Standards in Reasoning Test

In our everyday life the terms evaluation and measurement are often used interchangeably. However in psychological research, these two terms are used differently and have separate meanings attached to them. Measurement is referred to the process of assigning numerals to the objects, events etc. following certain rules.

In the procedure concerning measurement, numbers are assigned restrictively and numbers have quantitative meanings of their own. There are various explicit and constant rules according to which the investigator assigns the numbers.

Reasoning test can be both qualitative and quantitative. A person with a high reasoning skill is quite likely to be able to reach at conclusions, pervading efficiently and steadily through the various consequences of the situations presented before him. It is generally expected of a person with high reasoning skill to be sound in structuring problems, facts and situations and take up a firm decision. It is also expected of the person to have a strong understanding and thought process. The assessment of the reasoning skills in a person is carefully designed to examine the lateral thinking skills of the individual.

 This indicateshow efficiently a person can provide solutions to any problem presented before him.This test effectively examines primary competencies like the analytical reasoning and the logical reasoning. In case of the former it is assessed whether the candidate is able to reach at a conclusion or to provide an alternative solution to a problem situation by structuring the problem logically. However in case of the logical reasoning, a candidate is expected to identify the patterns in a given informative data, and to take successful business decisions.

Organizers and recruiters utilize this test in order to select fresh applicants from those applying from a wider educational backdrop. This test is perfect for selecting candidates who already had had a minimum of two years of working experience. Different administrator grade functional roles, managerial and team lead profiles are usually selected like management trainees, in banking and finance or insurance department, as sales executive or sales associates, different IT sector jobs, in entry grade functional duties, FMCG, and also in manufacturing, retail, hospitality and healthcare.The test can also be given a customized outlook on prior requests and with extensive discussion with occupational psychologists and experts to make the test. Scoring is one important part of any test and dependingupon this criteria of scoring, tests are usually classified into two broad categories the objective and the subjective test. This is to ascertain that the scoring procedure remains unambiguous. Again the test having multiple choice answers, true or false categories or matching items are generally called objective tests.
