What You Need To Know About Dog Poop Bags

There’s a renewed responsibility for both dog owners, and dog poop bags. As well as helping us pick up after our dogs, it’s what happens next that’s making the headlines. The big problem we face with plastic waste has seen a lot of people change what they buy. This shift in consumer behaviour has encouraged a large proportion of people to look for more sustainable products. If you haven’t already noticed, we’re talking about day-to-day items that do their bit to reduce plastic waste, things like reusable coffee cups, non-plastic water bottles and ethically-sourced clothing. Dog poop bags have joined the list.

Picking up after your dog is, of course, a great way to make your local community a much nicer place to live. Until recently, however, the majority of well-intentioned dog owners have been looking after their local, at the expense of the global environment. Non-biodegradable plastic bags mean dog poop never breaks down; instead they keep on piling up in landfills. Biodegradable bags were introduced to solve this problem, and they’ve been a huge success.

But knowing what to do with your dog’s poop is still a grey area. That’s why we’ve created two types of poop bags: compostable and biodegradable. Our compostable dog poop bags are certified home compostable. This means that if you have a well-managed compost system at home, you can add our compostable poop bags to create compost for non-edible plants. These compostable poo bags are all made sustainably from cornstarch – a robust and effective substitute for plastic, 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Our biodegradable dog poop bags also provide an effective solution to single use plastic dog poop bags. Biodegradable poop bags rely upon living organisms to help break them down. Because of the biodegradable qualities in these bags, you can dispose of them in nearby bins. Eventually these will organically break down – a huge bonus for landfill sites. The big difference between compostable and biodegradable poop bags? Setting. Compostable bags require a specific compostable setting; while biodegradable bags break down naturally.

Our range of biodegradable and compostable poo bags do more than the regular poop bag: they provide a brilliant alternative to single-use plastics; keeping communities clean, at no expense of our planet. They’re also strong and dependable, which is of course a must when picking up poop.
