What is the work of aircraft maintenance engineer?
An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring an aircraft operates properly and safely.This job entails assessing and handling repairs, performing regularinspections, and updating aircraft as needed. Individuals in this role must be trained and Certified, as well as compliant with all Federal Aviation Administraion (FAA) regulations. Hours may vary based on the company they work for, but emergency repairs may occur and make for long hours.
While an aircraft maintenance engineers’s day-to-day duties and responsibities are determined by where they work , there are many core tasks associated with the role.
Performing Maintenance:
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Aircraft ensure safety across assigned aircraft.In order to do this, they performe maintenance, both scheduled and emergency. This can include dismelting, inspecting, testing, repairing and reassembling aircraft engines; installing electricals circuits; testing aircraft communication equipment, aircraft instrumentation, and electronic systems; replacing and testing aircraft oxygensystem components; assembling parts and subassemblings of aircraftframes; and conducting routin preflight inspections of engines and mechanical systems. They are also required to keep detailed records of the maintenance performed.
Maintain Facilities:
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are required to maintain their company’s facilities and equipment as directed by the leadership team. This ordering parts and supplies as needed.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is a 4 years license programme. It comprises of 2 years Academic and 2 years practical training in live environment. AME Course can pursue through Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India approved AME Institute in India. AME Course is related to the protection and well-being of the aircraft and its passenger.
To become an AME, one has to get a license from the DGCA that is Directorate General of Civil Aviation as per Rule 61 of the Aircraft Rules 1937, obtained from the Aircraft Act 1934. To become airplane engineer, you have to pass all the exams conducted by the DGCA, Govt.of India, plus you have experience of aviation. This experience is determines by the DGCA,Govt. of India.
AME programme under CAR-147(Basic) is open for international students to all the international communities. Registration fee of US $ 500 has to be paid, for admission office to proceed for admission formalities. After receiving the required admission processing fees of US $ 500, the Indian institute of Aircraft engineering (IIAE) admission office will issue admission offer letter online for students to proceed for student’s visa from Indian embassy in their respective country. After completing the visa formalities students will approach the IIAE Admission office for submission of the academic and residential fees online. Ones the admission fees is received by IIAE Admission office, an admission confirmation letter will be issued online along with their class commencement dates and schedules for the students to arrive in India for regular AME programme. Ones the student arrives in India, the information will be given to local FRO (Foreign Residence office) within three days of the arrival in India as per the Indian government regulation for issue of residence permit to continue the AME programme with IIAE. IIAE will further approach to the FRO office for obtaining security clearances from MHA (Ministry of Home affair).
