WHAT IS THE FIRST HOLY COMMUNION?

The First Communion of a child is definitely the holiest event in his or her life after baptism. The event marks the day in his life when he or she gets involved to the roots of the church and starts learning the values of religious morals. On this auspicious occasion, a child receives his first Eucharist which means that he receives the Body, Blood and the Soul of The Lord in himself. This is first step towards attaining purity. It is essential that parents help their child to understand the importance of Eucharist. Hence, the parents must make them understand the heavy importance of this event.

As child slowly gets adapted to the catholic religious environment after repeated Sunday masses and several lessons from the Gospel. He also starts reading the Bible which has been specially edited for the children. But his first communion gives him the chance of purifying his body and soul by taking The Lord into himself. We know that children are the purest creature on earth and so the Holy Communion marks their start towards a grown up life.

The First Communion is quite an event to celebrate. It calls for a gathering of close ones who are very well associated with the child. Parents plan for quite some time about the party which takes place on the occurrence of the First Communion. The guest list gets prepared for the communion invitations with a lot of thought; the event is planned, although the venue generally varies between the local church and a Catholic school. There are definite dress codes for the event. The girls wear little white gowns with white veils and the boys get dressed in black tuxedos. This almost looks like a mini wedding party. The dress codes of the guests also include decent and modest clothes which are suitable to be worn in a church. There are number of gifts received in the party. The gifts are bought depending upon the likes and dislikes of the children. In the middle of such glamour and gifts, the children often tend to forget the real cause of the gathering and get swayed away in the crowd which is quite obvious for a human of that age. But the parents should take the initiative to teach him the value of the event and not to forget to be grateful for the process. Receiving the Eucharist is a matter of great fortune as it is the only way through which we get in contact with The Body, Blood and Soul of The Lord. Communion itself is a very special and meaningful event in human life as it marks the beginning of purity. The First Communion of your child is definitely an important event and you plan to make sure goes smoothly. The next big spiritual event will be the child confirmation.  So the first communion will help you get your guest list prepped for when it is time to send out your confirmation invitations to the same amazing group of people.
