Review about self improvement and tips for improving yourself

SELF IMPROVEMENT

What is self-improvement?

The definition is pretty much self-explanatory. Self-improvement refers to the betterment of one’s own self. It is the act/process one puts to improve his personality, character, status and mindset.

It is the urge to make ourselves better in different aspects of our life. You maybe a student, a teacher, a doctor, or you may belong to any profession, whatever you are, self-improvement is the priority for you.

Everyday is a new chance to be a better version of who you were yesterday. Getting up in a new day is a ticket to explore your inner world once again. If you are in a continuous struggle of seeking the better person in you, you are on the right track.

2 years back when I took my last chemo session, I ended up with the conclusion that life is a continuous endless struggle in search of “betterment”.

TIPS for self-improvement:

Start your day with a “SET GOAL”

Start your day with a pen and a paper, write tasks on it which you plan to do for the rest of the day. In other words, make a TO DO LIST. At the end of the day hold yourself accountable for the tasks you intended to complete. Review yourself and appreciate positive criticism. With every passing day, try to attain more.

Stay Organized

Set a routine. Try to do things on time. Follow the natural sleep rhythm, wake up early in the initial hours of the day and practice some yoga or meditation, or else just breath in and out in some fresh air. Keep your working place (either it be a room or your desk) neat and clean, place your stationary, laptop or books where they are easily approachable. This will help you initiate your task without a delay.

Read a good book

Books give us vision and wisdom, and help us to grow in a different way. It is said that those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. Through book reading we can enter into the writer’s mind and acknowledge many new positive ideas. I am mentioning some well-known books here.

Man’s search for meaning, The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho), Stop Worrying and Start living (Dale Carnegie), Think and grow Rich (Napoleon Hill).

Find yourself a Hobby

Hobbies usually vary with the interests of the people and at different times it can be different for the same person. By learning something new, we train our brain to stretch in different directions. Some common hobbies include writing, painting, riding, climbing, gardening, golf, cooking, capturing, dancing, or web designing. If you already have your hobby selected than level up your skills.

Learn from others

We always are in a never-ending journey of improvement, whenever we think we are good, we can be even better. If you adore someone’s qualities, there is no wrong in adapting them permanently. Spread kind gesture and reach the person you admire, talk to them, appreciate them and ask them how they face their daily challenges. Don’t only learn from success stories, also go for the failure ones, failure stories are better teachers for some people.

Socialize

Show kindness to people around you. Don’t hesitate talking to strangers, volunteer for a noble cause, or you we may start a new business venture. Take part in a new course, seminar, or workshop.  By meeting new people, we learn how to deal with difficult persons, how to avoid negative ones and how to tackle opposing situations.

Start a gratitude journal

Writing a journal with positive vibes gives a reflection of your positive energy. Revisiting that journal in your low again make you feel energetic and helps in mood improvement of one’s self.

Quit a bad habit

Change is equal to self-improvement. If you keep on watering your positive characteristics, there will be no room left for the negative ones. For example, we can work on anger management and try to suppress it most of the time.

Forgive yourself

It’s the most important thing that we should not blame ourselves and if something goes wrong, we must be kind to ourselves and forgive us. Letting the past go of will be of great help.
