Steps to Follow

  • You need to start your car and then turn on the AC
  • You have to determine whether the AC compressor is engaging or not. It is a device that is driven by the accessory belt which converts refrigerant from liquid to gas. You need to look at the clutch to know the quantity of the refrigerant. If the clutch is engaging, then the system is low on refrigerant; however, if the clutch is not engaging, then the car’s AC system is very low on the refrigerant. You can add more refrigerant after checking the pressure.
  • For testing the pressure like the experts of air con service, you need to turn the vehicle off and look at the passenger side of the engine bay to locate low side pressure port.
  • You need to attach the recharge hose over the port carefully so that no refrigerant is released while attaching it.
  • Then restart your vehicle and make sure to monitor the gauge. If the low side pressure of the car is under 40 psi, then you can say that your AC system is undercharged.
  • While threading the refrigerant can onto the hose allow you to top off the AC system slowly. After installing the can, you have to hold and squeeze the trigger to add refrigerant to your AC system. Once you are done, you need to check the pressure gauge to see that you have not to overcharge your car AC.
  • Use the thermometer and then insert it on the AC vents and check the temperature. If the car’s AC system is charged fully, then it will blow cold air which is 28 degrees. This temperature can vary as per the temperature of the surrounding and whether your vehicle is moving or stationary.

Once you have successfully recharged the car’s air-con, then it will run cold air, and you can drive your car nicely. However, it is best that you avail the auto air conditioning service as repairing car’s AC is the hazardous process as it includes working with various liquids that is why certified mechanics should address this problem.
