I was born and brought up in a farming family which led to an affinity towards the profession and its machines. Although he himself was a farmer, my father kept me away from anything remotely related to farming as he wanted me to become a government official. I became one and I got him retired from his farm the day I joined my post. But I knew that for him farming was more like a passion than profession. Our Solis tractor helped us all the way through the transition and I learned how to farm in process. So, I decided to write my first tractor review for others.
ROPS
Solis S26 is one of the few compact tractors out there that come with a ROPS (Roll-Over Protection System). It is widely known that a ton of tractor accidents occur due to tractor rolling over. But not every tractor company offers compact tractors with a roll-bar. Security features are always an add-on for any vehicle. Also, all of the Solis tractors come with a ROPS regardless of their category.
The Engine
The SolisS26 comes with a powerful 3-cylinder Mitsubishi engine that delivers the horsepower of 26HP. Most compact tractors lack in power thus their utility but Solis S26 turned out to be a powerful performer even on the most uneven of the surfaces. Also, the tractor is relatively much fuel efficient in comparison to my previous one. The fuel efficiency of most of the compact tractors is low in the beginning like any new vehicle. But, over time the fuel efficiency of this Solis tractor has been very great.
The Type of Hitch
Compact tractors are nothing but a bigger lawn mower without the right hitch. Compact tractors usually come with a 3-point CAT-1 type hitch. S 26 is also fitted with the same hitch and has the capacity to attach a variety of implements for cultivation & harvesting purposes. Before buying compact tractors one must always check what kind of hitch the tractor comes with. Hitch is the most crucial component in defining the utility of a tractor.
The Optional Front-End Loader
Solis tractors come with the option for a front-end loader. Generally a company that offers compact tractors with a front-end loader prices them very high. Such high-pricing coupled with a demand for the compact tractors with a front-end loader leads to a much higher price for these tractors even in the second hand market. But Solis tractors come at relatively affordable rates as the company manufactures the front-end loaders by itself.
Lifting & Towing Capacity
Lifting and towing capacity are two other things this farming machine excels over other compact tractors out in the market. Delivering a lifting capacity of an easy 600 kg, this compact tractor efficiently performs tasks such as digging ponds, giving a makeover to your lawn etc.
What’s even more impressive about this Solis tractor is its towing capacity of 1600 kg easy. It can easily tow any kind of implements or even a fully loaded trolley with ease. If you are still not impressed, in a demonstration this Solis tractor performed an amazing feat by pulling a jet plane by itself; far exceeding its towing capacity.
