Food coloring and fun things to do with it

Does your breakfast look boring? Does that oatmeal routine feel monotonous? There are always ways to put a spin on the mundane aspects of life. Today we will talk about something which is nothing short of gold for food companies and available around any corner.

Food coloring has made millions of boring foodstuff look fun enough to actually make you believe it tastes better. Edible color has the ability to psychologically influence the perception of your taste buds.

There is something about those bright colors which bring out the child in you.  There are many more things to which you can add a dash of your favorite shade. Here we will discuss a few fun ways to use food coloring.

The Colorful Snowman:

Snow is a glistening white canvas capable of beholding your vividly colorful imaginations. It’s a good way to put a spin on the age-old white melting pal of ours. So here is how it’s done.

Grab a water spray container and fill it with water. Add the color you choose to the water.

You may want to be a bit generous at this part because the spray will dilute the color and only a tinge will be apparent.

Add enough colors to the water and then begin the ordeal of painting the snow. You can also make snow-castles or other fun structures with multiple colors.

Coloring the whites:

All types of white or off white looking edibles can be dazzled up with some shades.

For instance, you can buy food coloring as a dye for painting Easter eggs. Just imagine the sight of that picturesque nest of eggs colored no less than a rainbow. Don’t like the color of milk? Maybe blue or orange can make it seem palatable. There is no limit to your creativity. You may use multiple colors as well.

You may also paint faces on your toast. For this, you can make paint out of milk and color. Use the paint with a clean brush to draw faces on your slice of bread before tossing it in the toaster.

Coloring the colored:

Food color can also be added to a lot of colored consumables to break the monotony. For instance, you may color up your evening beer to make it look it a lot more refreshing.

The same may go for whiskey or vodka. The best time to do this is probably the Halloween party. You may also color code your drinks.

You may apply the color with a brush on cakes. Use your palate wisely.

Dyed Hair:

Now, this may not sound conventional but is still very much feasible. Besides being just a cost-effective option, dying hair with food colors I also considerably less harmful, considering the drawbacks of synthetic dyes.

The only downside of this procedure is that food colors are not that strong and will only last a few weeks or less. But you can use them when you want to theme up to your hair for an event.

To do this, you should first wash your hair. Your hair should be clean for the best results.

Now prepare the color in a bowl. Remember, the color appearing on your hair will be a much lighter shade of you have applied. So prepare a shade much darker than that of your choice.

You can apply steaks or cover the entire scalp. Let it stay for around 2 hours before rinsing thoroughly. You will observe a much lighter shade of the color you had prepared. You can expect it to stay for around 3 to 4 weeks straight.

Tinted Flowers:

This is another fun experiment to try out on your flowers, preferably the white ones like daises for the best effect.

It’s as simple as adding a few drops of your desired shade into the water in the vase containing the flowers and wait till the next morning.

You may use single colors or mix them up to create custom colored flowers.

Colored ice cubes:

Wouldn’t it be fun to pop out bright colored ice cubes to cool your evening refreshment?

This is the simplest way to use food color. Just add a few drops of color in some water and let it run into the ice tray. This will give just one color.

Alternatively, you can add minute amounts (much less than a drop) of a different color to each of the molds in the tray. This will transform that boring tray of ice a vibrant piece of food art.

These are just a few ideas, but with enough creativity and imagination, you may discover many interesting ways to use those shades. Make sure you use them safely.
