OUR PRACTICE
Unlike a growing majority of large dental practices which have been purchased by larger conglomerates, we have maintained our independence; our practice is owned by our dentists Dr Dodd and Dr Garg, who value this freedom to provide the best care at reasonable rates, in the manner they feel best serves our patients.
Our Australian Dental Association-registered practice currently employs five dentists and 12 staff, providing a complete range of dental services. Our Surgery is available for appointments Monday to Saturday. Our clinical hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am – 4.00pm Saturday. We do provide an after hours emergency service for our regular patients during the week after normal hours and on weekends. Attendance at the surgery outside of normal working hours for services that are not related to current treatment will be charged appropriately. Please call our surgery number 62781066 and you will be directed to the dentist on call.
Each dentist has their own special areas of interest in dentistry and they work closely together to provide the best care possible for our patients. We pride ourselves in keeping abreast of modern trends and techniques, while still making ourselves available at short notice for all emergency treatments for our patients. All of our dentists regularly attend conferences and courses in order to “brush” up on the latest skills and technology available. We value the professional relationships we have established with our existing patients and always welcome new patients into our practice.
At Hopkins Dental we provide a comprehensive dental care plan for you and your family. We work together with you to plan your oral health maintenance program, which includes assessment of your teeth, periodontal or gum health, teeth cleaning and evaluation of x-rays.
Why is it so important to have regular dental cleans?
Gum disease is painless, and affects around 95% of the population in different degrees. You could be more affected if you are a smoker, have a chronic disease, take medications, or have a genetic predisposition. It is irreversible but it can be controlled by having regular check-ups and teeth cleaning. In some cases, regardless of age you can lose teeth if not treated on time.
Our Dentists remove calculus deposits and stains from your teeth, apply decay preventing agents, assess your brushing and cleaning techniques and provide recommendations and products to improve your oral health.
Preventive oral care keeps your mouth and body healthy andsaves money on expensive dental treatments in the future.
A root canal is required when a tooth is decaying internally and requires the dentist to drill into the tooth, extract the pulp prior to refilling and capping the tooth to prevent future decay.
Your teeth are made of a hard material called dentine that is covered in a protective enamel. The interior is made of a sensitive tissue called pulp, which provides oxygen and nutrients to the tooth. Once a tooth is fully formed, nutrients for the tooth come from the tissue surrounding the root and the tooth can function without its pulp.
