You may already know about delta-8 and delta-9 compounds. But things are moving quite fast in the world of cannabis.
The latest kid in the block is delta 10. It is so novel that new things are still emerging about it every day. You may be intrigued to know more about this latest inclusion in the CBD family.
What is Delta 10 THC?
D-10 THC is nothing but an isomer of its predecessors, which are Delta-8 and Delta 9 THC, respectively.
Isomers are molecules that have a different arrangement of atoms even though the chemical formula is the same. It is just like pizza in various flavors, even though the basic ingredient remains the same.
So Delta 8, 9, and 10 are essentially distinct flavors of the same THC molecule. Though every THC form is psychoactive, they do differ on the potency level and naturally trigger a different experience accordingly to the user.
In many cases, delta 10 gets so elusive that scientists and laboratories often mistake it for other compounds while checking it with the help of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography which is the standard for testing compounds.
Where Does D-10 Come From?
Delta 10 originates from hemp extracts. It was not even known a few years back. It was discovered accidentally by a California company experimenting with the production of different concentrates of delta 9.
The company known as Fusion Farms purchased outdoor-grown cannabis for preparing concentrates. Incidentally, these turned out to be contaminated with fire retardants (thanks to the California forest fires).
The company did not realize that what they bought was contaminated and continued with the extraction process. After distillation of the plants, unusual crystals that started forming were noticed. They had a unique structure that did not look like any other crystal cannabinoid ever known.
After analyzing the crystals, Fusion farms concluded that they were a type of CBC, although not the exact match.
Eventually, they discovered that this one has THC variation that is only possible because of the exposure to the fire retardant.
However, there is no need to worry about fire retardants in current Delta 10 products. Scientists nowadays make the Delta 10 products using safe, clean materials and following food-grade practices.
Best Delta 10 Products Available
The D-10 market has lots of potentials and is yet to explode. Brands and consumers are not that much familiar with it as this is an extremely new cannabinoid.
Moreover, as the brands have to go through a laborious task of first extracting delta 10 and then sending the products for safety checks, very few of them are coming forward and releasing the product to the market.
But in the coming days, more companies are going to launch an assortment of delta 10 products. This implies that you will be able to eat, vaporize or ingest this new compound through a variety of products like:
- Gummies
- Vape cartridges
- Oil /Tincture
- Disposable Pens
- Chocolate Bars and more
Presently delta 10 THC is mostly consumed in the form of distillate. With its usage becoming more widespread, the other forms of the product mentioned above are expected to gain popularity soon.
