Canberra, the capital of Australia is a place to pursue a life you’ve always imagined. It’s a place you can call home, raise your family, build your career, and chase your goals and aspirations. Canberra’s natural surroundings, unconventional outdoors, high-quality lifestyle, and a friendly community are what encourage people around the world to migrate there and become a part of its highly-educated workforce.
For many years, lots of people choose to migrate to Canberra for both personal and professional reasons. As a capital territory, Canberra has always encouraged migration and provided foreign skilled workers a platform to explore unique career as well as business opportunities. Through its much-coveted ACT occupation list, Canberra identifies skill shortages in the labor market in some major visa categories, and invite skilled workers who can embrace a future in the city. Some of these visa categories are mentioned as follows:
ACT nomination – Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa- If you want to live and work in Canberra as a skilled worker, then Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa is what you can opt for. Under this visa, you are required to complete a score-based ‘Canberra Matrix’, where you will be given points based on your ability to make economic contributions and your genuine commitment to be a pivotal part of ACT community. Candidates who score 20 or above will be invited to apply under act 190 nomination to migrate and work in Canberra.
Employer Nomination- This stream allows employers in ACT to hire skilled overseas workers and offer them jobs which cannot be filled by Australian citizens or permanent residents. The visa pathway is supported and approved by Regional Certifying Body (RCB), and allows professionals who are nominated by their employer to live and work in Australia permanently. Under the Employer Nomination, the government of ACT provides all recommendations to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection regarding employer nominations, labor market needs, migration requirements, etc.
ACT Occupation List 2020
The ACT occupation list plays a crucial role when it comes to identifying skill shortages within Canberra and inviting skilled immigrants to meet the current labor demands of the Australian Capital Territory. The Skilled Occupation List for ACT is also quite useful resource for prospective immigrants seeking Australia immigration. Generally, the list is reviewed twice a year, however, the demand for each occupation is evaluated on a regular basis for both ACT state nomination and employer nomination.
