India’s Campaign
India begins its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. The team is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B features Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with the final on March 9.
Neutral Venues for India and Pakistan
Due to ongoing political tensions, India and Pakistan will not play in each other’s countries. All of India’s matches in the tournament will be hosted at neutral venues, and Pakistan’s team will not travel to India for any tournaments until 2027.
This decision was confirmed by the ICC on December 19, following earlier discussions. The hybrid model was initially proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the ICC accepted the request.
Agreement on Hybrid Model
During a meeting held on December 5, chaired by the ICC’s new chairman Jay Shah, all 15 board members agreed to adopt the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. The PCB also supported the decision.
Additionally, other future tournaments include the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India and the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
