A total number of 305 skilled worker applicants have been invited over two Arrima draws. In the latest Quebec Immigration draw that was conducted on December 17, 2019, a total of 220 invitations went to candidates who lodged their applications under the Regular Skilled Worker Program of Quebec.
These applicants were either from the cap that was in place when they applied for the very first time or they were staying in Quebec on a study or work permit on June 16, 2019, during the time roughly 16,000 Regular Skilled Worker Program applications were rejected or cancelled. In early December as many as 85 candidates were invited to submit an application for selection in Canadian permanent residency.
In the December 12 draw, there were two kinds of candidates. Either they had a valid offer of employment, or they were residing in Quebec carrying out their responsibilities as diplomats, consular officers, or representatives of intergovernmental organizations, among others.
Since the introduction of the Arrima system of selection in the Canada skilled worker program of Quebec, the province has conducted nine draws and invited 2062 candidates to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec, or CSQ).
What is Arrima?
Launched in 2018, the online portal Arrima is for submitting expression of Interest from immigrants who are interested for settling in Quebec under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. Anyone who is 18 years or above can submit an EOI via the Arrima system.
The EOI system of Quebec Immigration manages applicants for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec, or CSQ), that is required to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the province through their Quebec Skilled Worker program.
The Ministry of Quebec Immigration issues Invitations to Apply for a CSQ that is based on either the score of the candidate or other additional factors such as labor needs in the many regions of that province.
Applicants express their intention and interest of settling in Quebec by creating their profile on Arrima, which is then placed in the pool of candidates wherein they are ranked either based on the score they receive on the point system of Canada (Comprehensive Ranking system)
