Nissan India has officially taken the wraps off the Kicks SUV in India. The new SUV will make its launch in January 2019. Expect it to be priced in a range of Rs 10 lakh to 14 lakh (ex-showroom). It will pounce directly with the Hyundai Creta and the likes. To be positioned as a premium SUV, the Kicks will come with many upmarket features and will play a major role for Nissan, though the company has been quiet the last few years, but is planning to come back in a big way, starting with the launch of the new Kicks.
Exterior wise, the new SUV will be bigger than the model offered in the international market. The design aesthetics of the model are not hidden from anymore. It will boast of LED headlamps with daytime running lights, bold V-motion front grille, fog lamps placed on the bumper, floating roof design with roof rails, shark fin antenna and door mounted ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The rear gets sharply designed LED taillamps. Dimensionally, it measures 4,384mm in overall length, 1,813mm in width, stands 1,656mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,673mm.
Though, the company has not yet revealed the interiors of the new Nissan Kicks, but we can expect it to come packed with loads of premium features such as a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility along with a digital instrument cluster.
Speaking of the engine-spec, the Nissan Kicks will be offered in both diesel and petrol engine options. Powering the new SUV is the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel unit, that will make 108bhp and 109bhp of maximum power respectively. The transmission duties will be carried out with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and the petrol version will get an option of a CVT.
Speaking of the new product launches, Nissan will fortify this with the new Kicks SUV making its way to the Indian shore. Sold in many international markets, the India-bound Nissan Kicks will be based on MO platform. We can expect it to come packed 1.5-litre diesel K9K engine that makes 108bhp paired with a 6-speed manual and a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 104bhp, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and CVT gearbox can also be added to the line-up. Nissan Kicks SUV will be positioned above the Terrano, so expect it to get premium touches on the inside as well.
